Proud to be a
PTA annual event
Thank you to everyone who supported the fifth Commonweal 5 Mile on 15th May, 2016, which raised £2,868 for the school's PTA.
With 289 entries, the race was the largest yet, and we were delighted to have Swindon's elite runners, club runners and recreational runners on the start line. Our aim is to be a friendly race for all abilities and to be as inclusive as our course safely permits - we welcome buggies and guided runners but ask that you check out the route and contact us before entering.
The next race will take place on Sunday, 14th May 2017 at 10am. We look forward to seeing you then!
The Commonweal 5 Mile was etablished in 2012 and all money raised from the event supports The Commonweal School.
The scenic course has a sting in its tail...! Starting (and finishing) on the school playing field, the route descends along paths from Old Town onto the Old Town Railway Path, to a flat middle section along by the Waitrose supermarket and the lakes and canal at Wichelstowe. The final section of the route involves a steady climb back up to Old Town.
Toilets, showers and changing facilities are available in the school's new gym. The PTA serves refreshments including bacon butties and a great assortment of delicious homemade cakes!
Entry is open to everyone over the age of 15, but due to the quality of the running surfaces and steep steps along certain stretches of the route, the race is challenging for buggies and wheelchairs. Race numbers must be collected from the race HQ at Commonweal School on the day.
